Mentoring

Here at REACH, our highly experienced team is passionate about transforming the lives of children and young people. We’re extremely proud of our successful mentoring service which has achieved excellent outcomes for young people. Our mentors have a range of counselling, mentoring, sports and youth working backgrounds and we always seek to match the individual child or young person with the most appropriate mentor for them.

We focus on building a strong, trusting relationship with the child or young person while discovering their interests and skills through a range of activities. We help children and young people to better understand themselves and sensitively explore social, emotional and behavioural issues which may be hindering them in achieving their full potential.

Our Process

REACH may be commissioned by educational institutions, social care organisations or directly by parents and carers. Following an initial assessment visit, we create bespoke mentoring programmes tailored to the child or young person’s needs. Generally, our sessions take place on a weekly 1:1 basis.

We work with children and young people who are at risk of placement breakdown, not accessing education due to anxiety resulting in school refusal or due to exclusion.

Our mentoring service aims to:

•   Improve attendance and behaviour at school
•   Increase academic engagement in specific subject areas
•   Reintegrate pupils into schools
•   Provide tools for resilience
•   Increase self-esteem
•   Work on behavioural regulation
